I want to say a few things before we head into the 3 day weekend. Your cluster teachers want you to know that if you are feeling any level of anxiety about distance learning, we hope you will be able to set those nervous feelings aside. We know that there is going to be a steep learning curve next week as we head into our new learning environment, and we want to be able to support you. Keep in communication with us, let us know if things aren't working out for your, for whatever reason, we are going to be very flexible. For those of you that are excited, YAY! Know that we are too. No more bathroom passes for two weeks and an hour long lunch break. This is HEAVEN!!!
I am going to post assignments each Monday for the week, that does not mean that I am expecting you to be able to do all of the work by yourself. In fact, all of your teachers have been told to post all of their assignments on Monday, and none of us expect that you will be able to do all of the work independently. We are giving you access to the material so that you are able to best plan the use of your time. Your teachers will be available during the scheduled class times, on TEAMS, to teach you necessary components of the work so that you are able to complete all assignments by the end of the school day on Friday. Now if you want to work ahead, go for it! Do what you can do, but please refraining from asking questions about the assignments until after the live TEAMS meeting intended to teach you the material and go over the details of our expectations.
Expect that Tuesday and Wednesday will be much like the first day of school in a building. People might be lost, or late, and we get that. Expect teachers to be going over rules and expectations, filling you in on all of the great things we've been planning this week. What will be different, most (if not all) teachers will probably record the meeting so if you are late, or you zone out, you will be able to watch the parts you missed.
I know you might be wondering, what happened to our Google classroom for Mr. Garrett. Well, there is a technical error that was out of our control. HISD is having to ask Google to fix it! He is waiting, and hoping he doesn't have to wait too much longer.
Enjoy your weekend, download TEAMS, and don't forget today is the LAST day to update your Imagine Math project grade by completing lessons!
