In addition, there will be two Algebra parent meetings the following week. These meetings are specifically for the parents' who have a child in either Mrs. Williames' or Mrs. Harper's Algebra classes, but any parent of a student in an Algebra course is welcome to attend. The dates and times are Monday Sept 16, 2019 at 6 pm or Thursday Sept 19, 2019 at 3 pm. The meetings will both take place in the library. We want to communicate about how we can work as a team to support your child through their first high school math course.
Cluster 8L hopes to take a field trip on Wednesday May 13 to the Holocaust museum and community service at Hermann park. If you have connections at the museum, or know someone that does, please contact Mrs. Williames as we are having trouble getting the museum to lock down our desired date. If you want to chaperone one of your child's last middle school field trips please get VIPS approved and save the May 13th date!
Please pay the $20 cluster fee to make the field trip possible. Consider sponsoring a scholarship. Scholarships are available!
Donate your Summer reading!
Our 8th grade Language & Literature team is very interested and excited to review the Refugee by Alan Gratz starting late September/early October. The novel was on the Lanier recommended Summer reading list for 2019, so we are hoping to collect some donated books from students of any grade level to acquire a total of 3 class sets. Our goal it to review the themes of the book and how they relate to IB learner profile and global contexts. Students can donate books in Office B. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Rhymes - email@example.com.
Math and Algebra
Please join the appropriate remind class for your child's Mrs. Williames math 8 or Algebra class.
Language and Literature
Students should track their reading every day. They should have a copy of Elie’s Wiesel’s Night by October 1st. Please note the cover of the book that we’ll be surveying.
